LSR

The London Single Reeds was formed in 2004 in response to the need for a specialist choir for the many adult clarinet and saxophone players based in North London looking for opportunities to play with other musicians. As its name suggests, most of the instruments of the single reed family are represented, from the small high E flat Clarinet to the large and low Baritone Saxophone. The Bass Saxophone and the enormous Contra Clarinets also make regular apperances with the ensemble. The group was very fortunate right from the start to be offered a regular home in the Mill Hill East church where it rehearses on alternate Sunday afternoons. The repertoire is varied and includes classical pieces, either original or arranged, as well as jazz and lighter styles of music and there is usually one concert each term. Many of our pieces are written or arranged by members of the ensemble. Our repertoire has ranged from Bach to Irving Berlin and the Hallelujah Chorus to Rock around the Clock. We are always happy to do joint concerts with other groups.
